Waroad Apple TreeApple trees can be found in landscapes across America.  They are know for their beautiful fragrant flowers in spring time.  It is by far one of my favorite signs of spring.

Apple trees are great additions to any landscape for many reasons.  In addition to their beautiful blossoms, the apples they produce are the finest autumn treat there is.  Of course many people prefer the smaller crab apple varieties, I am drawn to the edible varieties.  Some are great for fresh eating, others for baking or storage, but all are delicious in their own way.

The best part about fruit trees is that what you don’t use, the deer and birds will be happy to clean up for you.

One main thing to remember about apple trees is that a well pruned apple tree will always perform all of its purposes better.  A pruned tree will look better as a key part of your landscape, it will be healthier by not being overcrowded with branches and of course it will be stronger to hold up to the weight of the apples it produces.

So as spring approaches remember to get your apple trees pruned before the leaves arrive.  If you don’t have any apple trees in your landscape yet, perhaps this is the year you plant one and begin to enjoy the benefits for many years to come.
